IT'S HERE

GDPR HAS ARRIVED
AND IT EFFECTS US ALL

We need to make an apology.

We try to make our marketing material fun and colourful. We try to keep our customers, architects, conservation officers, and all other interested parties engaged and excited about our products and services.

But, today, we need to be serious. The law has changed.

It affects our business and it most likely affects yours too. It’s not just for big corporations either.

We’ve done our best to be as clear as we can here and tried to explain what is happening and what we’re going to do about it.

We're Sorry

So what’s all this fuss about?

What is GDPR

The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the culmination of four years of efforts to update data protection for the 21st century, in which people regularly grant permissions to use their personal information for a variety of reasons in exchange for ‘free’ services.

In the UK, GDPR will replace the Data Protection Act 1998, which was brought into law as a way to implement the 1995 EU Data Protection Directive. GDPR seeks to give people more control over how organisations use their data, and introduced hefty penalties for organisations that failed to comply with the rules, and for those that suffer data breaches. It also ensures data protection law is almost identical across the EU.

What we're doing

What we’re doing and what we’ve done.

If like us your business uses email marketing, sends direct mail or makes sales calls, the law is changing what you can and can’t do.

Some things you might do today will no longer be allowed. From 25th May 2018, General Data Protection Regulations – or GDPR – come into force. You might have heard about this already because it’s kind of a big deal.

Whilst we make sure our website is fully compliant we will be sending out an email campaign asking our existing contacts to ‘Opt-In’ again. This is to make sure we have your explicit consent to continue to market to you about the products and services we offer here at Stonehealth.

It’s not ok for us to assume we have permission. It’s not ok to hide it in our privacy policy. And it’s not ok to pre-tick a box which you have to untick. Those things might have been allowed in the past, but not anymore.

So, we’ve been getting your explicit consent.

Hang on, what data are you collecting about me?

We don’t collect that much data at all, that’s not what we’re about. With that said however, we do use a tracking tool on our website from Google (you may have heard of them). Google Analytics tracks your movement on our website as you navigate from page to page, we have this in place so we can better serve our online customers and make sure we are delivering the best possible user experience.

Google Analytics doesn’t capture any of your personal data such as your name or contact details, but it does provide us with your devices IP address which could be used to obtain your general location (such as the town or a city you are based).

Other than Google Analytics, all other data is requested and stored with your explicit permission including our ‘Opt-In’ email marketing and any information we collect from you when you make an online purchase.

Leave me alone

Will you just leave me alone?!

Yes, you have the right to tell us to stop marketing to you and we’re going to make that process as easy as possible, in fact, you won’t even have to ‘Opt-Out’, just simply ignore the opt-in email that we’ll be sending to you soon and we’ll remove you from all our email marketing lists ;o(

Simples!

But if you do want to continue to hear from us, simply follow the link in the email we send you and ‘Opt-In’ again.

Easy peasy!
